Who is responsible.
J58 (De Hems 10, 7522 NL Enschede, the Netherlands) is the controller (the party that decides why and how your personal data is used) for the personal data described here. You can reach us at info@j58.eu. This policy applies to j58.eu and complements our General terms and conditions and Cookie policy. It follows the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, the EU privacy law) and the Dutch GDPR Implementation Act.
What we use your data for.
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis | Kept |
|---|---|---|---|
| Answering your questions and requests (contact, demo, dealer and professional forms) | Name, email, phone number, country, your role, clinic or company, and your message | Taking steps at your request and our legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR) | Up to 24 months after our last contact, unless a longer period is needed for an agreement or the law |

| Videos from YouTube | IP address and device details, sent to Google when a video loads or plays | Your acceptance of our Cookie policy and this policy (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) | Set by Google; see the Cookie policy |
Where your data comes from.
Mostly from you: when you fill in a form, send us an email, sign up for the newsletter or order. We also receive technical data from your browser when you visit the website.
Forms and email.
Our forms currently open your email app with your details ready to send to info@j58.eu. Nothing is sent until you press send in your email app. Please do not include health details in your message. Information about your health is special category data, which the GDPR protects extra strongly, and we do not need it to answer a first enquiry.
Newsletter.
Our newsletter, The Next Wheelchair, is sent through Substack, a service of Substack Inc. in the United States. When you sign up, your email address goes to Substack, which then also acts as a party responsible for its own part. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in each newsletter.
Who receives your data.
Only people at J58 who need it, and service providers who help us run the website and our communication: our website hosting provider, our email provider, Substack for the newsletter and Google for YouTube videos and fonts. Where such a provider processes data for us, we have, or will have, a data processing agreement with them. We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising or profiling. Our authorised dealers receive your details only if you ask us to put you in touch with them.
Transfers outside the EU.
Some providers, such as Google and Substack, are based in or use servers in the United States. Where that happens, we rely on the safeguards the GDPR allows, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Cookies and similar technologies.
We only store what is needed for the website to work, such as your language and accessibility choices, and we load YouTube videos and fonts from Google. We use no analytics or advertising cookies. Details are in our Cookie policy.
How we protect your data.
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures, such as limiting access to those who need it and using encrypted connections (HTTPS). No system is completely secure; if a data breach puts your rights at risk, we will report it to the Dutch Data Protection Authority and, where required, to you.
Your rights.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive your data in a usable format (data portability) and, where we rely on your consent, to withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect what we did before. We do not make decisions about you by automated means. To use a right, email info@j58.eu. We reply within one month and may ask you to confirm who you are.
Complaints.
If you think we handle your data unlawfully, please contact us first so we can try to fix it. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl) or to the authority in your own EU country.
Children.
The website is not meant for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has sent us data, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy.
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top and, where needed, tell you. Changes apply from the moment we publish them.
